On the afternoon of December 23, Thai Binh Provincial Police informed that the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Hung District Police had issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Pham Thi Lien (born in 1989, residing in Dong Son Commune, Dong Hung District) to investigate the act of fraud and appropriation of property.

During the investigation, the police determined that around April 2023, in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, Lien met and had a romantic relationship with Mr. NTS (residing in Kien Giang province).

Around July 2023, Lien returned to her hometown to live, but the two still kept in touch. Taking advantage of Mr. S.'s feelings and trust, Lien repeatedly gave false information about being tricked into being sold abroad as a prostitute and needing ransom money and paperwork to return home.

From February to August 2024, out of trust, Mr. S. transferred money to Lien many times with a total amount of more than 2.3 billion VND. This money was used by Lien for personal expenses and online gambling.

The police are continuing to investigate to strictly handle the subject according to the provisions of the law.
