Flower roads are increasingly being replicated in many rural areas of Hai Duong.

Green Village

Tan Hong is the first model new rural commune of Binh Giang district. The main road leading to the commune is straight, with flower roads, ornamental plants, and golden rice fields on both sides, creating a poetic countryside scene. 100% of the alleys and hamlets here have been paved, ensuring light - green - clean - beautiful. Waste is collected and treated according to regulations. The concentrated landfills are covered with green, without odor. The villages have built 6 km of flower roads. The care of flower roads and ornamental plants is done voluntarily by those who love ornamental plants. Looking at the current environmental landscape, few people know that Tan Hong used to be a "hot spot" for environmental issues.

In previous years, some small enterprises in the industrial cluster located in the commune regularly discharged waste, causing environmental pollution. Untreated wastewater was discharged directly into irrigation canals, affecting production and people's lives. Under the drastic intervention of the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Binh Giang District, the illegal discharge of waste by enterprises has ended. People actively monitored and proactively detected signs of violations to report to specialized agencies for timely prevention.

Women's Union of Mo Trach village (Binh Giang) takes care of flower roads, ensuring the landscape of the village and hamlet.

Ms. Nhu Thi Dua, Head of the Women's Association of Mo Trach village, shared: "The women in the village are in charge of taking care of some flower roads, the rest is taken care of by the people themselves. One of the things that our people are proud of is the appearance of the countryside, from traffic to the landscape and environment, which is increasingly green, clean and beautiful."

Although there is no industrial cluster in the area, in Co Dung commune (Kim Thanh), the environment used to be a painful problem because of small-scale livestock farming. Now, livestock farming in the commune has been developed in an orderly manner. Livestock farming areas are located far from residential areas. All villages and hamlets no longer have small-scale livestock farming in residential areas. Canals that were once polluted by livestock waste and wastewater have been "revived".

Canals in Co Dung commune are no longer polluted by livestock waste.

To maintain and improve the quality of environmental criteria, in addition to signing contracts with environmental companies to collect household waste from families in the village and transport it out of the area, cleaning movements in residential areas are organized periodically. Families participate in cleaning village roads and alleys every day. Mass organizations simultaneously clean village roads and alleys every Saturday or Sunday. In particular, in many places, people have carried out the work of renovating canals, sewers, ponds, planting flowers, improving the environmental landscape... voluntarily and consciously with a high sense of responsibility. "Waste-free fields" and pesticide packaging collection tanks have helped people raise awareness of preserving the rural environment, improving the quality of life, and protecting the environment.

Efforts to change

The model of waste classification at source has been systematically implemented and put into practice by women in Cam Van commune.

Many years ago, many rural areas in Hai Duong became "black spots" in terms of environment. But since the new rural construction movement was implemented, Hai Duong's countryside has changed. Determining environmental criteria will contribute to changing the face of the countryside, creating a green - clean - beautiful rural landscape, so communes building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas pay more attention and attach importance to protecting and improving environmental quality.

Mr. Tran The Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Van Commune (Cam Giang), shared that Van Thai village, which used to be a place of alarm due to environmental pollution from the cattle slaughtering industry, has now completely changed. People use biological products to renovate ponds, farmers implement clean livestock farming processes, women build "green house" models, classify waste at source... Village "parks" and model flower streets are making Cam Van one of the many livable countrysides in Hai Duong.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dang, Head of the Department of Rural Development, Deputy Head of the Office for Coordination of New Rural Development in Hai Duong province affirmed: “Nowadays, the appearance of Hai Duong countryside is increasingly prosperous, gradually meeting the needs of people's living and production. In particular, environmental criteria are not only maintained and improved, but also contribute to making the rural environment more and more prosperous, becoming livable countrysides”.

Communal, inter-commune, village, inter-village, and hamlet roads have been invested in and built synchronously. Most of the communal, inter-commune, and inter-village roads and commune-center roads to district roads have been asphalted, with signs, directional signs, speed bumps, safety railings, and sidewalk trees. Alley and hamlet roads have been hardened, ensuring brightness, greenness, cleanliness, and beauty; the main intra-field roads have been asphalted and concreted, and the main ditch system has been reinforced.

The rate of rural population using clean water remains at 100%. 12/12 districts, cities and towns have arranged tanks to store pesticide packaging and have issued instructions on the collection of pesticide packaging. The rate of hazardous waste treated is 99.8%. The rate of medical waste treated is 100%.

All cemeteries are planned and built according to the plan. The classification, collection and transportation of solid waste in the area are ensured according to regulations, and models of waste classification at source are widely replicated. It can be affirmed that environmental criteria are having positive impacts on the appearance of Hai Duong countryside.
