Nguyen Nguyen Phu entered the 4th quarter of the Road to Olympia 2024 competition with impressive victories and scores in the weekly competition (330 points) and the monthly competition (245 points). He also holds the best Start-up achievement in the monthly competition with 95 points.

In this match, Nguyen Phu also had the opportunity to rematch with his partner Do Thi Quynh Huong (Da Phuc High School, Hanoi) in the February competition of the fourth quarter when this female student was the contestant with the highest second place score of the fourth quarter.

In the Warm-up round, as in previous competitions, Nguyen Phu continued to demonstrate his general knowledge when he achieved 85 points. Thereby, the male student temporarily took the lead in the mountain climbing group after finishing the first round, 15 points ahead of his second-place competitor, Quynh Huong.

The Obstacle Course was not a success for Nguyen Phu. After winning 10 more points on the first suggested horizontal question, Nguyen Phu was the first contestant to ring the bell to signal for the obstacle course.

However, her answer was incorrect and her friend Do Thi Quynh Huong (Da Phuc High School, Hanoi) gave the correct answer for the obstacle, which was "conical hat".

At the end of this competition, Nguyen Phu temporarily lost the leading position of the climbing team, 25 points behind the temporarily leading player Quynh Huong.

In the Acceleration round, Phu answered 2/4 questions correctly, gaining 70 more points, raising his score to 165. These questions also helped him regain the lead in the mountain climbing group, but only 10 points ahead of his second-place competitor. The contestants' scores were not too different, making the Finish line extremely dramatic.

In the Finish Line round, Nguyen Phu chose a package of 3 questions worth 20 points. Answering 2/3 questions correctly, Nguyen Phu raised his score to 205 after his performance.

However, perhaps Nguyen Phu made things difficult for himself with the parts that took the right to answer from other players afterwards.

In Son Duy's turn right after, Nguyen Phu consecutively won the right to answer 2 questions, but gave incorrect answers, and had a total of 20 points deducted, leaving him with only 185 points.

The drama of the match was pushed to a climax and was breathtaking, when before the last question of the contestant Quoc Khanh, besides Nguyen Phu who had 185; the other 2 contestants, Son Duy and Quynh Huong, were only 10 points behind with 175. The chance of winning was divided equally among all 3 contestants if they won the right to answer and gave the correct answer.

In the final question of the fourth quarter English contest, Nguyen Phu won the right to answer and proved himself worthy of being an English major student by giving a completely correct answer. He gained 30 more points, bringing his total score to 215, thereby winning the last ticket to the final round of the 24th year of the Road to Olympia.
