On March 1, the People's Court of Cam Giang district (Hai Duong) brought defendant Vu Tuan Trung (born in 1994, residing in An Sinh ward, Kinh Mon) to trial for the crime of property theft.
On the evening of November 25, 2023, Trung rode a motorbike from Hanoi to Cam Giang district with the purpose of entering workers' dormitories and people's houses to find vulnerable property to steal. At around 11:30 p.m., Trung went to the cemetery area of Cam Doai commune to hide the motorbike and waited for the right time to steal. At around 1 a.m. the next day, Trung walked to the house of Mr. Nguyen Huy V. in Quang Cu village (Cam Doai commune) and observed that there was no surrounding wall behind the house, so he followed it into the yard. Here, he saw a pair of black leather men's sandals on the steps, so he stole them and took them to the cemetery area to hide.
After that, Trung continued to return to look for property to steal, but was discovered by the Cam Doai Commune Police while patrolling and controlling, showing suspicious signs and was taken to the headquarters for questioning. At the police station, Trung confessed that he had just stolen a pair of sandals from Mr. V's house.
The court sentenced Trung to 6 months in prison. Trung has a previous conviction for theft and was released from prison in May 2022.
