The subject texted Mr. HHH to entice him to "chat sex" in order to collect information and images to blackmail if the victim followed the solicitation.

On December 3, Mr. HHH, an employee of a company in Hai Duong City, said that in recent days, he has been continuously receiving messages from a person named Pham Quynh Huong on Zalo, tempting him to "chat sex".

Mr. H. said that the subject of his Zalo profile picture was a good-looking woman who used sweet words to seduce him for many consecutive days until Mr. H. responded.

Because there was a lot of information about this scam, Mr. H. was alert and blocked the above account.

This is just one of many scams being perpetrated by bad guys in cyberspace today.

According to Hai Duong Provincial Police, through understanding the situation, it was determined that the subjects used Zalo, Facebook, Telegram, Viber... with images mainly of women texting the victims to get to know them.

After building trust, the victim shares images and personal information that will be secretly recorded by the subject, using cutting and editing technology to create sensitive images and videos.

Next, the subject called, emailed, and texted, claiming to be a "detective", having collected sensitive information about the victim, threatening and demanding that the victim transfer 1-2 billion VND. If the request was not met, the subject would spread the information and images on social networks or send them to family, friends, and colleagues.

Due to fear and shame, many victims transferred money. However, the subject continued to threaten and demand more money in increasing amounts until the victims were no longer financially able.

Hai Duong Provincial Police requested that press agencies increase propaganda about the methods, tricks, and consequences of these crimes so that people can proactively prevent, detect, and promptly report them to authorities.

At the same time, people are advised to be vigilant when making friends, getting to know and contacting strange social network accounts, phone numbers and emails.

When encountering a situation like the above, everyone needs to stay calm, not panic, and absolutely do not follow the subject's request to transfer money. Take pictures and record the subject's information such as: text messages, images, phone numbers, social media accounts, bank accounts... promptly report and provide to the nearest police agency.

Faced with the above methods and tricks, Hai Duong Provincial Police and district police have urgently taken action to widely propagate so that people can proactively prevent them.
