Floods on the Cau River rose so quickly in just one night that more than 9,000 people in Van Ha commune (Bac Giang) were completely isolated, their lives were seriously affected.

Heavy rain and floods after storm No. 3 caused severe flooding in many places in Bac Giang. Floods overflowed Da dam into Van Ha commune, Viet Yen town (Bac Giang), causing the entire commune to be submerged in water.

As of 6 p.m. on September 10, the road to Van Ha commune was still cut off by floodwaters.
Currently, boats and canoes are the only means of transportation for people in Van Ha so that they can support each other in protecting their lives and property.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong in Nguyet Duc village, Van Ha commune said that her family had never seen such a big flood that caused the water to rise so high. The flood isolated the entire commune in just one night.
The water rose quickly and submerged all the crops of the people.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Than Chuc village, Tien Son commune shared that this was the biggest flood in the past 40 years: "Floods happen here every year, but this year is beyond our imagination."
Mr. Nguyen Dinh My, Chairman of Van Ha Commune, Viet Yen Town, said that it had been a long time since the locality had such a big flood. The water rose very quickly, and in just one night, the entire commune was isolated, disrupting people's lives. Currently, the commune has completely cut off electricity. "The commune has implemented measures to protect people's property and lives, ensuring that there is no shortage of clean water and essential goods for isolated households," Mr. My added.
According to Mr. My, many places were flooded 1.5-1.7m deep; people had to raise furniture and move livestock and poultry to high places in their houses to avoid being swept away by the flood.
At 12:20 on September 10, the flood on Cau River rose and reached alarm level 3 (at Dap Cau Hydrological Station), causing water to overflow into the fields in some places.
According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Bac Giang province, in storm No. 3, the whole province had 1 dead and 5 injured, 6 houses collapsed, nearly 2,000 houses had their roofs blown off; nearly 1,500 households had to be urgently evacuated. Regarding agricultural production, about 15,000 hectares of rice were drying, 847 hectares of fruit trees, 3,550 hectares of production forests and more than 9,000 urban trees were broken. The storm caused landslides of 31m of canals; roofs were blown off and fences collapsed at 154 schools, medical stations, cultural houses, communal houses and pagodas. Some antenna towers, spillways, dams... had incidents, with estimated damage of nearly 345 billion VND.
