A strong affirmation of the path to socialism in Vietnam

For many years, through both open and blatant and covert means, hostile forces have attempted to sabotage, defame, and attack Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, the Party's guidelines and policies, and the nation's new culture... In particular, hostile forces have taken advantage of the decline in some socialist countries to attack the process of building socialism in Vietnam. The work "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a strong affirmation of the correct choice of the Party, Uncle Ho, and the people for the path to socialism in Vietnam.

In response to the question of why Vietnam chose the path of socialism, the General Secretary mentioned the reality after the collapse of the socialist model in the Soviet Union and many Eastern European countries, leading to doubts about the path to socialism, along with the sabotage of anti-communist forces and the wavering and doubt within the ranks of the Party members. From there, the practical questions arose: is capitalism, including old capitalist countries, still developing well? Has Vietnam chosen the wrong path? What is the significance of the practice of innovation and socialism in Vietnam in recent times and what issues does it raise? To clarify the practical content of the innovation and socialism in Vietnam, the General Secretary mentioned the outstanding achievements in 35 years of innovation; at the same time, pointed out the shortcomings, limitations and challenges in the process of national development.

Over the past 35 years, with an average growth rate of about 7% per year; GDP scale has been continuously expanded, reaching 342.7 billion USD in 2020, becoming the fourth largest economy in ASEAN. Per capita income increased about 17 times, to 3,512 USD; Vietnam has left the group of low-income countries since 2008. To date, more than 60% of communes have met new rural standards. Especially in 2022, especially in this third quarter, a series of countries around the world recorded currency instability (one of the clear signs of recession), but the Vietnamese Dong remained stable, the macro economy was maintained; a series of financial institutions around the world highly appreciated the recovery and strong development of the Vietnamese economy...

The achievements of innovation in Vietnam have proven that socialist-oriented development not only has positive economic effects but also solves social problems much better than capitalist countries with the same level of economic development.

In his article, the General Secretary also frankly pointed out shortcomings, limitations, new challenges and tasks for national development in the coming time. In these contents, the head of the Party did not avoid: “In particular, corruption, waste, degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle still occur among a number of cadres and Party members. Meanwhile, hostile forces are intensifying sabotage, causing instability, and carrying out peaceful evolution plots.”

It can be said that the article by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a work of high theoretical and practical value, both profound in its ideological and theoretical level about socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, and a strong affirmation that Vietnam's choice of the path to socialism is completely correct and demonstrates the determination of our Party and people in successfully building socialism in Vietnam.
Currently, hostile forces are vigorously stepping up their sabotage activities against socialist countries, including Vietnam. They are carrying out a strategy of “peaceful evolution” with many extremely sophisticated and vicious sabotage tricks in all areas of social life, including the fields of ideology and theory, with the aim of denying the scientific, revolutionary nature and ideological foundation of the Party, eliminating the Party’s leadership role and the achievements of Vietnam’s socialist construction in the renovation process.

In the above situation, clarifying the path to socialism in Vietnam has important ideological value, is the basis for convincingly and firmly refuting erroneous and hostile arguments; and strengthens people's belief in the Party's leadership of the socialist-oriented renovation process, in Marxism-Leninism, and Ho Chi Minh thought.
