The press and the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the digital transformation period

Thereby, it is determined that journalists writing about this topic need to have solid professional qualifications, strong political will, loyalty to the Party, and responsibility to the Fatherland; the struggle of press agencies needs to have specific, clear plans, and methodical and smooth coordination.

At the conference, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi highly appreciated the fact that some press agencies have organized online forums well, through which they have oriented politics and ideology and raised awareness of all classes of people on "hot" issues; refuted bad and toxic information, distorted and slanderous arguments, and correctly oriented public opinion. The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed: "The press awards on Party building and the writing contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation launched recently have attracted a large number of journalists and collaborators to participate, clearly demonstrating the sharp thinking, intelligence, enthusiasm and responsibility of journalists towards the work of building and protecting the Party's ideological foundation".

At the Conference, delegates presented their opinions on the issue of clearly defining the vanguard role of the press and media in identifying the plots and tricks of hostile forces to undermine the Party's ideological foundation, especially in the context of the national digital transformation taking place strongly in all areas of social life. Delegates also highlighted the requirements for press agencies in protecting the Party's ideological foundation today; the specific characteristics in the fight against erroneous and hostile views of each unit and locality with different geopolitical factors, ethnic, religious and regional cultural issues; clarifying the achieved results, identifying the difficulties and challenges arising in the practical struggle. Delegates also analyzed and shared lessons learned and practical solutions in applying achievements of digital technology to build columns and organize propaganda to protect the Party's ideological foundation, helping to improve the quality of information and propaganda work.

The discussions showed that the press agencies have proactively taken part in promoting the Party's correct guidelines and policies, the State's progressive policies and laws, and local socio-economic development plans, closely combining "building" and "fighting"; steadfastly fighting against bad and toxic content and wrong views on social networks; identifying and refuting the distorted arguments of hostile, reactionary, and opportunistic political forces, taking advantage of the issues of "democracy", "human rights", "religion", "ethnicity", "civil society", "freedom of speech", "freedom of the press"... to oppose the Party and the State, and sabotage the great national unity bloc... Some press agencies have established groups of political reporters and mobile reporters working directly at "hot spots" to promptly fight and directly refute the flow of bad and toxic news and distortions of the truth by reactionary elements.

Concluding the conference, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi stated: The conference heard many high-quality presentations, responsible and profound exchanges of opinions from the Journalists Associations of 25 provinces and cities in the Northern region. The presentations focused on the practical experiences of the press in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, the difficulties and challenges for journalists in refuting wrong views and fighting against hostile forces; many valuable lessons were shared, many practical solutions were drawn from the practical dedication of journalists and members, from the creative ways of the Association at all levels in applying the achievements of digital technology in organizing propaganda to protect the Party's ideological foundation.
