At the Hanoi Opera House, the People's Army Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank held the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the Third Writing Contest 'Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in the New Situation' (2023 - 2024); launching the Fourth Writing Contest (2024 - 2025).
The ceremony was attended by Politburo members: General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Cuong, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Professor, Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. Also attending were Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; members of the Party Central Committee and leaders of relevant agencies.
The third writing contest “Protecting the Party’s ideological foundation in the new situation” attracted nearly 620 press works from more than 50 press agencies nationwide. The entries closely followed the theme and content of the contest; the quality was relatively even, many works clearly demonstrated the discovery and raised new issues in the implementation of the task of fighting and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints; preventing “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” within the Party. Many works mentioned, reflected, and raised the experiences and good practices of agencies, units, and localities in implementing Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW of the 12th Politburo on strengthening the protection of the Party’s ideological foundation, fighting and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation.
The highlight of this Contest is that many press agencies participated enthusiastically and responsibly, investing their efforts and intelligence to organize long-term series of articles with depth and information weight, contributing to improving the quality, effectiveness and spread in carrying out the task of fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, and protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
Based on the rules and regulations of the judging, through two preliminary and final rounds, the Final Jury with leading prestigious journalists nationwide unanimously selected 38 outstanding works to award 3 types of prizes, including: Prizes for Central newspapers; Prizes for local newspapers; Prizes for magazines, including: 3 First prizes, 7 Second prizes, 13 Third prizes and 15 Encouragement prizes. In addition, the Organizing Committee also decided to reward 5 press agencies with many quality works participating in the contest.
Specifically, the 3 First Prizes went to: Series of 5 articles "It is impossible to distort or deny the achievements of ethnic policies in Vietnam" (Central newspaper group) by a group of authors Tran Hong Quynh, Pham Yen, Pham Quang Kien, Hoang Thi Phuong Lien, Ly Thi Thu, published in the Communist Party of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper. Series of 5 articles: "Keeping cyberspace clean - Bac Giang's creative approach" (local newspaper group) by a group of authors Do Thanh Nam, Le The Phuong, Trinh Van Anh published in Bac Giang Newspaper. Work "Resolutely upholding the principle of the Party being closely attached to the people, ensuring the Party's invincible and endless source of strength" (magazine group) by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Huong published in the Journal of Political Theory and Communication.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Competition Steering Committee, emphasized that the third competition continued to have an attraction and influence in the press and in the political and social life of the country, receiving special attention and positive response from journalists nationwide. The participants of the competition were more diverse. Many works had a new and profound approach, the content both ensured combativeness, theory, and education, and had a way of expressing and conveying vivid messages, contributing to enhancing persuasiveness and positively influencing readers' trust in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The contest has shown that protecting the Party's ideological foundation is not only protecting the Party's Platform, guidelines, policies and laws of the State, but also contributing to protecting the regime and protecting the great revolutionary achievements; at the same time identifying, exposing and fighting against the plots and tricks of hostile, reactionary and opportunistic political forces to sabotage the revolutionary cause of our Party and people; resolutely criticizing and repelling signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", contributing to building a truly clean and strong Party and political system.
“The outstanding works selected and honored by the Organizing Committee today are the crystallization of passion, intelligence, courage and demonstrate the exploration, creative work with sharp political thinking and high responsibility of the authors and groups of authors towards the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation,” affirmed Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet.
