The highest-end Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 version is expected to be called Slim, significantly thinner than the regular version, with a starting price of more than $2,000.
The special and most premium version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which may be called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, will be launched soon in September, according to Korean newspaper The Chosun Daily. This phone has a 10MP selfie camera on the outer screen, a 12MP ultra-wide camera on the back, similar to the regular version.
GalaxyClub said that this special version will have a slightly stronger selfie camera inside than the regular version, at 5MP instead of 4MP. This is an under-display camera (UDC), not to mention it is on a fairly thin folding phone, so it is understandable that the parameters and quality cannot be compared to the selfie cameras on traditional phones.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim will have the model number SM-F958N and the code name Q6A. In terms of thickness, this phone is significantly thinner than the international version, about 10mm when folded instead of 12.1mm.
It does have a larger display though, with a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch inner display, compared to the regular version's 6.3-inch and 7.6-inch displays, respectively.
To achieve this slimmer design, Samsung reportedly removed S Pen support from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim by removing the 0.3mm membrane needed for the stylus functionality. The company also partnered with Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Samsung Display to reduce the thickness and size of components like the display panel and camera module.
The Chosun Daily reports that the premium foldable model will launch in South Korea “as early as September 25.” It will come in black and start at 2.8 million won ($2,090). Outside of South Korea, the special edition may be released later in China, similar to last year’s Samsung Galaxy W24 and W24 Flip.
According to Gadgets360, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is said to have a titanium back, although there are many difficulties in the machining process to make the hinge system with this material.
