Samsung Electronics announced on February 25 that it plans to unveil the design of its Galaxy Ring wearable at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 - the world's largest mobile device fair, taking place next week in Spain.
According to Yonhap news agency, in the announcement, Samsung Electronics said that this year's MWC is being held at the same time as the company is promoting the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology on electronic devices to "personalize" healthcare experiences for users.
“As part of this effort, the Galaxy Ring is a new health device that simplifies everyday healthcare, leading to smarter and healthier living through a more connected digital healthcare platform called Samsung Health,” the announcement said.
Galaxy Ring is a smart wearable device designed in the form of a ring with 3 different colors. This is a personal health care tool with health monitoring capabilities, heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor and sleep tracking.
The product was first introduced at the Galaxy S24 Unpacked event held in California, USA, last month.
The Galaxy Ring is expected to hit shelves in the second half of 2024.
MWC, an annual trade fair held in Barcelona since 2006, is one of the biggest gatherings of the technology world.
The event initially focused on mobile phones but has since expanded to include all kinds of connected devices like drones and robots.
AI is expected to dominate the exhibition space at the world's largest mobile device fair.
