The Central Committee of the Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of General Nguyen Quyet with the rites of a State funeral.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family deeply mourn and inform:
Comrade General Nguyen Quyet (birth name Nguyen Tien Van), born on August 20, 1922; hometown Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province; permanent residence at 02/4 Yecxanh, Pham Dinh Ho ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi; participated in the revolution in 1939; joined the Party in May 1940.
He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 4th, 5th and 6th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee of the 6th term; Vice Chairman of the State Council of the 8th term (now Vice President); former member of the Central Military Commission; Deputy Minister of National Defense; Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. Delegate of the 4th, 7th and 8th National Assembly.
After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, the collective of professors, doctors and family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 9:09 p.m. on December 23, 2024 (ie November 23, Giap Thin year) at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 102.
During more than 65 years of revolutionary activities, he made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Gold Star Order by the Party and the State; the 85-year Party membership badge and many other noble orders and medals.

1939: He participated in activities in the Anti-Imperialist Youth Union.
May 1940: He was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam and was a member of the District Youth Committee.
July 1942-1943: He was Secretary of the local Party Cell, Member of the Executive Committee of Hung Yen Province.
Late 1943: He worked in Hanoi, working as a cadre in charge of the movement in the suburbs of Hanoi.
Late 1944: He became a member of the Hanoi Executive Committee, and early 1945 was Secretary of the Hanoi Executive Committee.
August 1945: He was a member of the Military Committee of the Hanoi Uprising Committee, a member of the Political Committee of the Hanoi Military Committee, and a member of the Ha Dong Military Committee.
November 1945: He was Political Commissar of Squad 1 (Ha Dong-Son Tay), Political Commissar of Squad 2 (Ninh Binh) and went to the South.
June 1946: He was the Chief of Political Department of the 31st Division (Quang Nam-Da Nang).

At the 5th National Party Congress (March 1982), he was re-elected to the Party Central Committee and became Commander of Military Region 3.
April 1986: He was Deputy Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.
At the 6th National Party Congress (December 1986), he was re-elected to the Party Central Committee, elected by the Central Committee to the Party Central Committee Secretariat, and assigned to be the Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.
February 1987: He became Deputy Minister of Defense.
At the 1st Session, 8th National Assembly (June 1987): He was elected Vice Chairman of the State Council.

He was promoted to Major General in April 1974; Lieutenant General in January 1980; Senior Lieutenant General in December 1984; and General in January 1990.

NOTIFICATION

The Central Party Secretariat has decided to establish a State Funeral Committee consisting of 25 comrades, headed by comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission.
The coffin of General Nguyen Quyet lies at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.
The funeral will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on December 27, 2024 (November 27, Giap Thin year).

Funeral from 3:30 p.m. the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi City.
