On the afternoon of August 17, General Luong Cuong, Politburo member, Standing member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, visited and congratulated the 100th birthday of General Nguyen Quyet (August 20, 1922 - August 20, 2022), former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former Standing member of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), former Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the leaders of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, General Luong Cuong wished General Nguyen Quyet good health and longevity, and continued contributions to the Party's revolutionary cause and the cause of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern army.

On this occasion, General Luong Cuong gave a general report to General Nguyen Quyet on the military's tasks, Party activities, and political work of the entire army in recent times. Accordingly, agencies and units have been actively implementing the Central Committee's resolutions in conjunction with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle; promoting Party building and rectification; deploying and implementing Resolution No. 847-NQ/QUTW dated December 28, 2021 of the Central Military Commission on promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, resolutely fighting against individualism in the new situation.

Party and political activities of the entire army closely follow the situation and tasks of the Army, especially the key tasks identified by the Central Military Commission Standing Committee.

Agencies and units actively innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of political education and ideological leadership; information and propaganda work maintains the correct political orientation, closely follows reality; proactively fights to protect the Party's ideological foundation, refutes false, distorted, hostile and reactionary arguments. The political and ideological situation of the entire army is stable; Party work and political work in tasks are increasingly in-depth...

General Luong Cuong affirmed that all officers and soldiers of the entire army are willing to make every effort to study, train, and promote the heroic revolutionary tradition of previous generations, strive to successfully and excellently fulfill political tasks, and contribute to building a strong army and firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

General Nguyen Quyet highly appreciated the results of the Party and political work of the entire army in the past time; hoped that the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army would continue to do a good job of advising the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and direct the entire army to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress of the Army; resolutions and directives of the Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; proactively deploy Party and political work activities close to the characteristics of the situation and tasks; do a good job of political and ideological education, building political mettle and determination for the troops, ready to receive and successfully complete all tasks.

General Nguyen Quyet (real name Nguyen Tien Van); born in 1922; hometown: Chinh Nghia Commune, Kim Dong District, Hung Yen Province; joined the revolution in 1939; enlisted in August 1945; member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1940).

Throughout his revolutionary activities, through many different positions and tasks, General Nguyen Quyet possessed all the noble qualities and virtues of a staunch communist.

General Nguyen Quyet was a talented, resourceful, good military general, steadfast, sharp, and politically astute; a virtuous cadre, always devoted to the people and the country, and deeply loved his comrades and teammates. General Nguyen Quyet set a shining example of a military general, a leader with full Wisdom-Courage-Humanity-Trust-Integrity-Loyalty for today's and future revolutionary generations to learn from.

Along with his rich practical activities, throughout his revolutionary life, General Nguyen Quyet left behind many valuable theoretical works, speeches, and practical guidance articles, including works that are still relevant today and tomorrow.

After more than half a century of dedication to the revolution, to the Party, wholeheartedly for the country, the people, and the army, in 1992, General Nguyen Quyet retired from active service at the age of 70. In recognition of his great and outstanding contributions to the cause of national liberation, national reunification, and national construction and defense, the Party and State awarded General Nguyen Quyet the Gold Star Order, the Ho Chi Minh Order, and many other noble awards.
