Many online platforms used for meetings, seminars, and teaching are being attacked and disrupted by hackers in ways that are very unsafe for users...

Cybersecurity experts show how to secure or limit attacks because in the future, the number of users of these platforms is very large.

Most meetings, activities, and teaching activities today use online platforms. There are many platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams... but in many places, users are attacked.

Talking to us, Ms. P, a famous English teacher in a northern province, said that recently, while she was a guest, presenting content to thousands of teachers across the country on the topic of education, suddenly there were sounds, vulgar words, and swearing from the nick of a member of the class. Many people were panicked and did not understand where it came from, but the host did not know what to do, so she had to turn off the entire computer to exit.

As the main speaker, Ms. P. was confused when faced with such an incident, so even if she changed the platform, she still could not feel secure speaking for the remaining time....

In the case of a teacher at a school in another northern province, he was attacked by sending vulgar pictures, saying vulgar words and saying things that went against the content of the teachers' activities about the organization...

Ms. Ngoc Thanh, a resident of District 2, a business leader, participated in a meaningful sharing session during the Covid-19 pandemic. She said that since it was the weekend, she found the sharing session meaningful and interesting, so she invited her daughter to join, because at that time her family had a relative who had died from Covid 19. While listening very emotionally, an 18+ video appeared with very clear sound and images, which made her and her daughter panic. The organizers were surprised, so it took a few minutes to process and exit.

According to Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu, an information security specialist from the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center (Ministry of Information and Communications), recently, many groups have formed, specializing in "breaking into" platforms that many people are using, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, with bad intentions.

These subjects often share links and paths through platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams... to post videos and links with vulgar language, in order to disrupt, harass, and interrupt study groups and meetings... In particular, if there is important information from meetings that they want to "steal", they can easily break in. Not only that, these groups also organize the buying and selling of important data from schools with unpredictable risks.

Expert Ngo Minh Hieu said what is more dangerous is that bad guys share information, send harmless links to attract students, and at the same time steal information, leak it outside and sell data in school.

"To minimize attacks and disruptions, users should use highly secure platforms. As for commonly used platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet & Microsoft Teams, it is recommended to install them, giving only administrator rights. For example, after setting a password, allowing participants to enter the waiting room, and having an administrator approve, the host should set the default modes so that only the host can automatically turn on video, turn on sound, share the screen... and when allowed, it will be opened for each account... Importantly, when there are enough people, the meeting should be locked to prevent strangers from entering", said expert Ngo Minh Hieu.
