MobiFone deploys 5G, price from 80,000 VND

The deployment comes eight months after MobiFone successfully auctioned the right to use radio frequencies with the C3 band (3800 - 3900 MHz). "Individual users with 4G SIMs and 5G phones can immediately use the service within the coverage area without having to change SIMs," the network operator said.

On the launch day of March 26, MobiFone introduced 6 5G packages, including three packages of 200,000 VND/month, capacity of 6 - 8 GB/day; packages of 135,000 and 159,000 VND with capacity of 6 - 7 GB/day. This is also the first network to offer the lowest monthly package of 80,000 VND, capacity of 1 GB/day, free access to YouTube. In addition, users can also try the TN5G package, getting 30 GB for free for 15 days.

MobiFone has not announced its coverage area, but said that the first phase will focus on the centers of major provinces and cities. "In the coming time, MobiFone will continue to expand its coverage area, aiming to cover 5G in every commune in 63/63 provinces and cities nationwide," the network operator affirmed.

MobiFone's 5G network is deployed simultaneously on both standalone and non-standalone 5G architecture platforms (5G SA and NSA). With a frequency band of 3,800 - 3,900 MHz, it can theoretically provide higher speeds than the frequency bands of previously deployed carriers in Vietnam.

They said the 5G network speed can reach 1.5 Gbps, 10-15 times faster than 4G. Measurement data from the i-Speed ​​tool of the Vietnam Internet Center - Ministry of Science and Technology, shows that the download speed on MobiFone's 5G network reached 284.89 Mbps and the upload speed reached 53.37 Mbps, higher than the average in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Viettel's 5G achieved speeds of 400 and 120 Mbps respectively in a quick test on the commercialization day of October 15, 2024, while VNPT achieved an upload speed equivalent to Viettel's but the download speed sometimes reached 1.9 Gbps, nearly 20 times faster than the 4G network in Hanoi on the morning of December 20, 2024.

For business customers, the network operator said it will deploy over 100 products, covering eight key areas of national digital transformation priority, including: Industrial production, smart cities, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, transportation, and smart tourism.

In fact, this network operator has previously deployed solutions and services on the 5G platform, such as AI Camera for smart tourism, smart transportation, and 5G Private Network solution for a domestic company.

With the participation of MobiFone, all three major network operators in Vietnam have now provided commercial 5G services, of which Viettel from October 2024, VNPT from December 2024.
