The mid-cycle upgrade of Carnival slightly changes the exterior and interior design, adding the ADAS 2.0 safety package on three high-end versions.
On September 16, Truong Hai (Thaco) launched the Kia Carnival 2024 model. This is a mid-cycle upgrade version of the Carnival with some changes in design and equipment. The car is still assembled at Thaco's factory in Quang Nam.
The Korean automaker shows great concern for design as the 2024 Carnival is only a mid-life upgrade, but the exterior changes are enough to make a difference compared to the previous generation. The headlights include layered LED bulbs and the LED taillights (standard halogen version) across the rear of the car are both newly designed. The tiger-nose grille also changes its shape.
This design of Kia gives the mid-size MPV a more personal look, towards SUV style, while the previous generation had simple, neat lines, leaning towards urban and family features.
The car still retains the same 19-inch wheel size on all versions but has a new shape with a focus on square shapes, a style commonly seen on recent electric car models. Thaco said that the suspension system has been adjusted in many positions such as shock absorbers, shock absorbers in the front and rear forks to increase the stability of the car body. In the previous generation, the suspension system was a point that many users were not satisfied with on the Carnival because it did not really "swallow" the speed bumps.
In the interior, the changes are harder to notice than the exterior because the arrangement of details remains the same. The most significant tweak is the curved 12.3-inch digital entertainment screen connecting the speedometer. The air-conditioning buttons have been changed to touch-sensitive instead of mechanical.
The car still retains basic equipment for users such as wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connection, 3-zone automatic air conditioning with the third row also having two air vents. Along with features such as wireless charging, type-C ports on all seats.
From the Premium version onwards, the front seats have heating and cooling functions. The two highest versions are equipped with second row seats with heating, cooling, one-touch reclining and footrest functions. The highest-end Signature version has a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, the remaining versions have 6 regular speakers.
The Carnival's second row of seats can be folded flexibly, slide up/down or rotate 180 degrees to face the third row of seats (Signature version). The third row of seats reclines 120 degrees.
Another significant upgrade on the Kia Carnival 2024 is the ADAS 2.0 safety system equipped for versions from Premium and above. This system has four new features: forward collision warning and avoidance assistance, blind spot warning, cross-traffic warning when reversing, collision avoidance warning when parking. In addition, there is support for safe opening of the car door. Previously familiar equipment such as tire pressure warning, electronic handbrake, automatic brake hold, cruise control (adaptive on the two highest versions) ... are still retained.
In the new version, the car no longer has the 3.5 gasoline engine version that is picky about customers. The 2.2 diesel engine on the Carnival is still the same as the previous version, with a capacity of 199 horsepower, maximum torque of 440 Nm, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive.
With upgrades in design, comfort and especially safety technology, the 2024 Carnival version has increased in price by 110-200 million depending on the version. The specific selling prices are as follows:
Version | Selling price | Increase |
Luxury 8 seats | 1,299 | 110 |
Premium 8 seats | 1,479 | 200 |
Premium 7 seats | 1,519 | 200 |
Signature 7 seats | 1,589 | 160 |

The Kia model appeared in the most exciting final months of the year for the Vietnamese automobile market. In addition to its strengths in design and equipment, the domestic assembly origin with a 50% preferential registration fee is also a support for Carnival to consolidate its number one position in the large MPV segment market share in the near future.
With a selling price of under VND1.6 billion, Carnival is more accessible than GAC M8 (VND1.699-2.199 billion) and Volkswagen Viloran (VND1.989-2.188 billion). The Korean car model with a wide range of products and prices will have more opportunities than its competitors, when meeting the needs of both individual customers and businesses and organizations.
