Smart residential area in Doan Tung

With the advantage of geographical location and long-standing tradition of service and trade business, residential area No. 1 was chosen by Doan Tung commune (Thanh Mien, Hai Duong) to build a smart residential area model.

Online Mass Mobilization

In 2022, Residential Area No. 1 launched a Community Digital Technology Team with 5 members. This is the core force in guiding people to access online public services; using digital platforms such as: VNeID, VssID...

The community digital technology team also established Zalo groups such as: Residential Area Party Cell,Cultural residential area, security and order, environmental sanitation... help people get closer to local leaders. Information and feedback are received and resolved quickly and effectively by superiors. Management and propaganda work on the Party and State's guidelines, policies and laws in residential area No. 1 also becomes easier and more convenient.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (37 years old) said: "Building a smart residential area helps us access digital technology. Information reaches people more promptly. My family's business is also much more convenient when the local government supports the installation of online payment methods or management of goods in the warehouse."

According to Mr. Dao Dinh Pha, Secretary of the Party Cell of Residential Area No. 1, the area has 397 families with 885 people. 100% of the households are members of the common Zalo group.

Since the Zalo group was established, the cadres no longer have to visit each household to provide information, propaganda, and mobilization as before. Some of the Party cell's management and direction contents are exchanged online to save time and effort. Up to now, 95% of households in residential area No. 1 have installed internet and 90% of people are proficient in using smartphones. Thanks to that, the Party cell's mass mobilization work is much more convenient.

"In recent years, the mobilization of people to join hands in building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas has been mostly carried out online. During the implementation process, people directly participated in giving opinions on the general Zalo group to increase transparency and democracy. From 2022 to now, people in residential area No. 1 have contributed billions of VND to complete the traffic infrastructure system and cultural and sports institutions...", Mr. Pha said.

Digital economic development

Residential area No. 1 is located along provincial roads 392 and 393, so most households here are engaged in service and trade business. Due to good economic conditions and a synchronously developed infrastructure system, this residential area has many advantages in applying digital technology platforms, contributing to the development of the digital economy.

Ms. Dang Thi Hien’s family in residential area No. 1 specializes in producing and trading fly and mouse glue on a large scale. Previously, due to lack of access to e-commerce platforms, the family’s business focused only on the domestic market. Most of the transactions and product promotion were still done manually.

In 2019, Ms. Hien was determined to establish Dong Hai International Company Limited to enhance the product brand. She proactively introduced, promoted and sold products on social networking platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok... to expand the market. Thanks to that, currently, her family's business supplies about 6 million products to the market each month. Of which, 20% of the output is distributed via social networks.

"Currently, my family's products have been exported to Laos, Thailand and Cambodia. All transactions and payments have been made online to save costs and effort," Ms. Hien shared.

Like hundreds of other households in residential area No. 1, Ms. Lan's family also uses digital platforms to operate their family grocery store. All information about products and prices are publicly listed on the system. Payment and inventory management have also become more convenient. According to Ms. Lan, the application of digital technology in business has brought many obvious benefits. Buyers do not necessarily have to go to the store but can still buy the right product. Meanwhile, sellers do not have to spend too much effort to promote and introduce products. Online payment also helps limit people's use of cash.

In recent years, to promote the digital transformation process for residents, residential area No. 1 has also invested in installing many free wifi access points in public places. At the cultural house, there is a QR code so that people can proactively learn about the rules and regulations of the area. The community library is equipped with a computer system to support residents in updating information and performing online procedures... In addition to 239 cameras of households, residential area No. 1 also installed 15 security cameras at the gateways to maintain security and order in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Doan Tung Commune, said that digital transformation is an urgent requirement to promote socio-economic development and improve the material and spiritual life of the people. In the coming time, the locality will continue to improve the criteria of smart residential areas in residential area No. 1 and continue to replicate the model throughout the commune.
