On January 9, the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province Police decided to prosecute the accused Trinh Xuan Thanh (born in 1980, residing in Kinh Duong village, Hiep Cat commune, Nam Sach) for murder.

Due to a previous conflict, in the early morning of December 16, 2022, Thanh left home carrying a knife and a can of gasoline and headed towards the house of Mac Van Do (born in 1974, in Cat Khe village, same commune). At the victim's house, Thanh brutally used a knife to slash and stab the victim many times, causing Do to die on the spot. Not stopping there, the perpetrator also used gasoline to burn down the victim's house. After committing the crime, Thanh fled and was arrested on the morning of January 1 while hiding in a banana plantation in Kinh Duong village.
The Provincial Police Investigation Agency continues to investigate and clarify the case.
