On the afternoon of September 27, the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district (Yen Bai) reported on the report about Mang Mu school, Mo De Kindergarten, Mo De commune, Mu Cang Chai district.

The image of a white rice meal with ginger of a student at Mang Mu school was recorded in the report.

Through verification and through the practice of educational institutions, the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district determined that the content reflected in VTV1's Chuyen Dong 24h news about the children's lunch at Mang Mu school was not comprehensive about the reality at the school. The basic purpose is to call for support for investment in building facilities for schools.

Specifically, in the 2024-2025 school year, Mo De Kindergarten was assigned 15 classes with 415 children, of which Mang Mu satellite school has 5 classes with 141 students aged 2-5.

Regarding the implementation of policies, according to the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district, the school organizes lunch for children at the main and separate locations, and the children's policies have been paid directly to the children's parents when approved and funded.

Student family background "eating ginger rice with salt"

On the morning of September 23, a crew of reporters from Vietnam Television's 24-hour Program came to make a report to call for the construction of a kitchen for Mang Mu school.

During the program, reporters filmed and recorded activities of parents, teachers and students at the school, and interviewed school leaders, teachers and parents.

The interview content is related to policies, attention of the Party, State and local authorities, attention of parents for their children in studying...

On September 27, the working delegation of the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district met directly with the leaders of Mo De commune; leaders and teachers of Mo De Kindergarten; Secretary of the Mang Mu village Party Cell and some parents of Mang Mu village students to verify and grasp information.

As a result, Mr. Mua A Chinh, Secretary of the Mang Mu village Party cell, said that he had grasped the policies of the students. The village had fully disseminated the policies and regimes of the Party, the State and all levels to all the people and parents of the students in the village (lunch support for preschool children of 160,000 VND/month/student; support for study expenses of 150,000 VND/month/student...).

Regarding the family situation of the student who ate rice with ginger and salt in the report, the district informed that his family was a farmer, had enough rice to feed the whole family for the year, and did not go hungry. The student's parent, Mr. HAD, participated in the security and order work of the village and received monthly financial support...

Mr. D. said that he had been informed and understood the policies of the Party, the State and all levels for his children, and received financial support for lunch at the end of the school term. His family also always cared about their children's education and sent them to school regularly.

Currently, the school cooks lunch for the children 2 times a week, so the family does not prepare rice for the children on those 2 days. On other days, the family gives the children lunch boxes including rice, instant noodles, eggs, meat, fish... Occasionally, in addition to food, he adds a few slices of ginger for the children because it is both a spice and a daily dish of the Mong people.

"On the morning of September 23, I was preparing rice and eggs to put in a lunch box for my child to take to school. At that time, the reporters came to my house and asked me if I had ginger at home to bring to my child. So I went to get ginger and sliced it to bring to my child. At first, I only sliced a few slices, but they told me to slice more, so I sliced more. In order to get my child to school on time, I was in such a hurry that I didn't have time to make more eggs for my child to bring to school. At the same time, through talking, sharing, and partly following the reporter's opinion, I said that about bringing lunch boxes to my child's school," Mr. D. recounted.

Teacher's story

Teacher Nguyen Thi Yen (teacher in the report) said that the reporter talked, discussed and confided in her (for more than 1 hour). Ms. Yen also said that the policies for students are implemented fully and promptly; all levels pay attention to investing in building facilities and teaching and learning equipment, so the learning conditions for the students are better.

When talking about the difficulties and hardships of the students in the past, the teacher could not hold back her emotions and cried.

Principal of Mo De Kindergarten Le Thi Yen said that the school is currently building 3 new classrooms, so 2 classes have moved to study at the village's cultural house.

The school ensures that the students' benefits are implemented promptly and securely. Due to difficult conditions, the branches of Mo De Kindergarten have only organized lunch for the children twice a week (every Monday and Wednesday) from the State's support fund.

On other days, students bring lunch boxes, and the school cooks hot soup for the children at lunch boxes from socialized resources from teachers and parents.

According to Ms. Yen, September 23 was Monday, the reporter was filming so the school cooked extra vegetable soup and instant noodles for the children to eat.

After being broadcast, the report received mixed opinions. Among them, public opinion said that the images and content in the report did not accurately reflect reality. Accordingly, some mountainous districts of Yen Bai province such as Mu Cang Chai received a lot of attention from the Party, the State and the province, supporting the diet for students, not as difficult as the report stated.

Regarding students eating ginger with salt, many people believe that for some Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, hot ginger is a favorite daily dish.

Currently, the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district has requested the leaders and teachers of Mo De Kindergarten to report and explain the contents of the report, and at the same time directed the People's Committee of Mo De commune to organize a meeting to disseminate and propagate the policies of the Party, the State and all levels on policies for students.

The district also directed the education sector to advise on rectifying school units in receiving support, speaking out and implementing policies and regimes.

The District People's Committee has focused on directing the full and timely implementation of central and provincial policies.
