The Ministry of the Interior announced that Acting President Han Duck Soo has designated seven cities and counties, including Pyeongtaek and Yongin in Gyeonggi Province, and four towns and villages, including Anheung in Gangwon Province.

Between November 26 and 28, more than 40cm of snow fell in these areas, causing significant damage, especially to agricultural facilities. The ministry said the scale of damage caused by this snowfall was 10 times larger than before.

Areas designated as special disaster areas may receive government funding for recovery. Those affected may also receive additional assistance, such as tax deferrals.
