Han Jong-Hee, co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, has suddenly passed away at the age of 63.
Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-Hee passed away suddenly at the age of 63 on March 25, according to a spokesperson for South Korean tech giant Samsung.
Han Jong-Hee, born in 1962, has been in charge of Samsung's mobile devices and consumer electronics division since 2022.
He was appointed Vice Chairman and Co-CEO of Samsung Electronics in 2022.
According to Reuters, in his annual meeting with investors last week, Mr. Han Jong-Hee warned of a difficult 2025 due to uncertainties surrounding economic policies of major economies.
He also added that Samsung will look for “meaningful” mergers and acquisitions this year to support the company's growth.
Han Jong-Hee joined the company in 1988 after graduating from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Inha University in Korea. Before heading Samsung's electronics and appliances division, he was in charge of the display panel division.
According to Samsung, Mr. Han played an important role in bringing Samsung's television product business to the top position in the global market in 2006 and maintaining that position until today.
Mr. Han was central to the launch of Samsung's LED TVs, and along with other innovations, he helped the company continually demonstrate its technological leadership, the company added.
