According to the Hai Duong Province Hydrometeorological Station, from the night of June 8, areas in the province will experience heavy to very heavy rain. The rainfall as of 7:00 a.m. on June 9 was generally between 70-100 mm. Heavy rains caused localized flooding in some areas of Chi Linh City and affected agricultural production as localities were in the winter-spring rice harvest season. As of the morning of June 9, the whole province had harvested nearly 21,000 hectares of rice, reaching nearly 41% of the cultivated area.
To cope with heavy rains, Hai Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. has operated three anti-flooding pumping stations: Tien Kieu (Cam Giang), Do Neo (Tu Ky), Khuong Phu (Gia Loc). Other localities are opening sluice gates to drain and lower the water level of the main canal.
It is forecasted that from the night of June 9-10, areas in the province will continue to have moderate, heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall is generally from 30-50 mm, higher in some places.
