According to the Department of Education and Training, in the 2023-2024 school year, Hai Duong will enroll 34,378 first graders, an increase of 3,388 students and 74 classes compared to the previous school year.

The Department of Education and Training requires educational institutions to gather first graders before the opening ceremony to familiarize them with the school routine, but absolutely not to teach before the prescribed curriculum (documentary photo)

Hai Duong city enrolls the most first graders with 5,557 students; followed by Tu Ky district with 3,222 students; Kinh Mon with 3,051 students. The remaining localities have from 2,300 to 2,800 students.

The rate of mobilizing 6-year-old children to enter grade 1 reached 100%. The number of disabled children from 6-14 years old mobilized to enter grade 1 for integrated learning reached 91.8%.

The number of first graders in the 2023-2024 school year will increase due to the number of children born in 2017 being higher than the previous year, and partly due to the increase in population. In the past 5 years, the number of children entering first grade has been from 30,000 to 36,000. With this number of students, educational institutions in the province can still meet the demand.

The new school year 2023-2024 is expected to start on September 5. For grade 1, the earliest school start date is 2 weeks before the opening day.
