This year, many district high schools in Hai Duong have students participating in the national excellent student team selection exam such as: Doan Thuong (Gia Loc), Ha Bac (Thanh Ha), Kinh Mon (Kinh Mon town), Quang Trung (Tu Ky), Tue Tinh (Cam Giang)...
On the morning of September 22, the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong opened the exam to select the national excellent student team for the 2023-2024 school year at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong City).
The exam attracted 247 candidates from 11 high schools in the province, an increase of 34 students and 6 more high schools with candidates compared to the previous school year. This year, many district high schools had students taking the exam such as: Doan Thuong, Ha Bac, Kinh Mon, Quang Trung, Tue Tinh... Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted had the largest number of candidates taking the exam with 207 students. Next was Thanh Ha High School with 10 students, the remaining high schools had from 2-6 students.
The number of candidates taking the exam is higher because this year the Department of Education and Training expanded the exam to include excellent 11th grade students from all high schools instead of only taking excellent 11th grade students from Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted like last school year.
Candidates still take 11 subjects, including math, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, literature, history, geography, English, French, Russian (French and Russian are only for students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted). Each candidate only takes 1 subject. The written test lasts 180 minutes; the foreign language test tests listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The computer science test tests programming to solve problems on a computer.
The exam takes place in 1 day, with 13 exam rooms, 40 invigilators, inspectors, supervisors, security guards, etc.
After this exam, the Department of Education and Training will select about 102 students with the best results into 11 provincial excellent student teams to continue training and preparing for the national excellent high school student exam for the 2023-2024 school year. This exam is expected to take place at the end of December 2023.
In the 2022-2023 school year, Hai Duong selected 102 candidates to participate in the national excellent student selection exam and won a total of 71 prizes, ranking 6th nationwide in terms of the number of prizes.
