Gia Loc district strives for a winter-spring rice yield of 6 tons/ha.

The main reason is that agricultural land is converted to infrastructure construction, mainly industrial parks, residential areas, new urban areas, etc.

Gia Loc district encourages farmers to use 100% short-term rice varieties such as: Q5, TBR225, TBR 279, VNR20, Dai Thom 8, Ha Phat 3, BC15, sticky rice... for early harvest, freeing up land for winter crops. The concentrated planting season is from June 25 to July 5, ending on July 15. Because the winter-spring crop does not have a long break, the professional agency encourages farmers to use lime powder as basal fertilizer to limit acidity, create conditions for rapid decomposition of straw, limit root suffocation and disease sources, especially in acidic, low-lying soil.

In the 2023 crop, Gia Loc district planted 3,748 hectares, with an average rice yield of 59.13 quintals/ha.
