The electricity industry has pledged not to stop or reduce power supply to customers during Tet. The supply of gasoline and oil is also guaranteed.
Reporting to the working delegation of Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien on January 25, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that electricity consumption demand during the Lunar New Year holiday is forecast to be low because most industrial units have stopped or reduced production.
The average daily output is expected to reach 561 million kWh, about 60% of a normal working day. Accordingly, the electricity supply is guaranteed to be safe and stable during the holidays.
According to Mr. Ngo Son Hai, Deputy General Director of EVN, the electricity industry has a plan to ensure electricity for production and consumption, including security and fire prevention plans. They will not carry out work that requires stopping or reducing electricity supply, causing power outages for customers, except in cases of troubleshooting.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan and his delegation inspected and worked on the situation of gasoline supply during Tet.
According to Mr. Dao Nam Hai, General Director of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex), the group has been proactive in supplying gasoline and oil early and from afar. "At the end of 2024, we negotiated long-term purchase contracts for 2025 with domestic and foreign suppliers," Mr. Nam said.
Petrolimex has signed a long-term contract this year for a total supply of about 7.37 million cubic meters, equivalent to 70% of their domestic sales last year.
People's demand usually increases by 20-30% compared to normal days, especially on days before Tet. To ensure supply, in the first half of January, the group prepared sources and delivered goods to its affiliated port warehouses about 280,000 m3, tons of gasoline and 400,000 m3, tons of DO. This amount is equivalent to 70-80% of the monthly orders, helping to ensure the supply of goods to serve consumer demand during Tet.
