Demand for mobile data is expected to increase dramatically during the Lunar New Year 2025. To ensure smooth communication, telecommunications companies have proactively deployed many solutions.
To ensure communication security for customers during the Lunar New Year, from December 2024, VNPT Group has reviewed the entire communication system as well as developed plans to be ready to expand/increase capacity for the systems to ensure service quality.
VNPT has focused on investing in the international Internet network with a capacity increase of 16.6% with many land cable directions to ensure backup in case of submarine cable breakage. The backbone network capacity has increased by 23% to meet the traffic flow for fixed broadband Internet and mobile Internet customers.
VNPT also cooperates with major content providers and CDN (Content Delivery Network) providers to improve service quality and customer experience. Average connections increase by 10 - 40% to ensure service quality.
Accordingly, VNPT has improved network quality, added mobile broadcasting stations, and upgraded radio resources for more than 3,800 broadcasting stations to ensure network quality at nearly 300 major festival venues nationwide that are expected to attract large crowds.
VNPT also focuses on the migration factor during the process of returning home for Tet from industrial zones to localities and has plans to supplement capacity in those localities.
VNPT also officially launched commercial 5G services nationwide from December 2024, covering all district/city centers and densely populated areas to enhance people's experience during the Lunar New Year.
In addition, nearly 6,000 new 4G stations installed nationwide enhance service quality, meeting the increased demand of people during the Lunar New Year.
For Internet services, VNPT has reviewed international channels and added capacity, increasing the proportion of land cable capacity to meet customer needs during Tet.
In 2024, VNPT's fixed broadband network has been expanded and upgraded with large capacity, so it can fully serve customers' service needs during Tet.
This network also said it will ensure equipment for television services, including specialized signal transmission equipment and advanced satellite broadcasting vehicles to ensure stable signal transmission quality, meeting strict technical standards, suitable for all types of events of major customers such as VTV, HTV...
VNPT has also developed a plan to ensure information security, is ready to coordinate to meet information security requirements of state management agencies, and has arranged more than 1,500 human resources and vehicles, ready to implement sudden information requests during the holidays from authorities.
Ensuring communications and network security is the core mission of VNPT. Therefore, all of VNPT's communications systems have been built to ensure backup and have plans ready so that incidents can be handled quickly. VNPT has also deployed a plan for on-call personnel to be ready to handle situations that arise before, during and after Tet.
Realizing that the demand for voice and data services of customers nationwide often increases during Tet holidays, MobiFone has prepared technical solutions and enhanced network quality to ensure a stable and smooth network during New Year's Eve and to welcome the new year of At Ty 2025.
Currently, MobiFone's network capacity meets customer service needs well. 3G/4G network capacity meets data services well. In 2024, the network operator added many new broadcasting stations and transmission systems, significantly improving network capacity, ensuring against unusual network congestion in key areas and areas with high data traffic.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year, this network will increase 4G coverage to rural and mountainous areas to serve customers using the service when traveling from urban areas and cities to their hometowns for Tet.
In key areas where festivals and large crowds take place, MobiFone has conducted surveys, completed measurement and testing, assessed coverage quality, installed additional mobile stations, and increased coverage to ensure customer needs.
All devices on the MobiFone network have been tested, ensuring high backup configuration to avoid network incidents, network capacity and domestic and international transmission directions, ready for increased customer demand compared to normal days.
MobiFone has made detailed plans and completed schedules for operations, information response, and shifts to ensure timely reception and handling of incidents.
The network operator has also completed contacting and synthesizing the personnel of partners directly supporting the systems; increased the number of experienced technical staff directly monitoring the transmission backbone and at the switchboards; and prepared connections to serve the remote support of partners.
In addition, during Tet holidays, MobiFone arranges full staff to handle and support customers. MobiFone's 1090 switchboard is always ready to promptly answer all questions and support customers when needed.
During the 2025 Lunar New Year, Viettel representative said that customers' data consumption behavior increased by 10% compared to the same period last year and increased by 5% compared to normal days.
The five provinces with the largest number of subscribers are An Giang, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, and Nam Dinh. Subscribers in these provinces increased by 20-40% during Tet.
Because Viettel launched the 5G network this year, the data consumption behavior of 5G subscribers is twice that of 4G subscribers.
To ensure more than 650 festival and event locations taking place during the 2025 Lunar New Year (335 New Year's Eve fireworks display locations) and more than 7 million Viettel subscribers traveling from cities to their hometowns during Tet, Viettel has deployed more than 800 new BTS stations, nearly 100 mobile broadcasting vehicles and 20,000 solutions to add small stations in crowded areas to supplement resources, coverage, and improve network quality.
For festival and fireworks venues, Viettel technical team arrived early to survey the location, install mobile broadcasting equipment, and public wifi system.
To ensure the best network quality, Viettel has deployed additional resources one month before Tet. Viettel has mobilized tens of thousands of people in all routes from planning and design to frontline technical forces to ensure progress. In addition, Viettel has organized 600 personnel to work on holidays to ensure network quality and customer experience.
Viettel continues to use technical measures to control the installation quality of 20,000 solutions while automatically balancing the load, reducing congestion for 2G and 4G. Viettel also optimizes 4G coverage for provinces nationwide as well as provinces with many subscribers moving to.
Viettel representative said that NetEvent festival event software is also put into operation to help automatically send messages warning about the quality of festival event locations (places where people gather). The tool helps to warn early about the risk of congestion, thereby helping technical staff detect and optimize network quality in time, freeing up the force to monitor the network.
