Proposal for female workers to be allowed to take at least 8 prenatal check-ups

On May 27, the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly spent the whole day discussing in the hall a number of contents with different opinions in the draft Law on Social Insurance (amended).

Delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province, proposed to increase the number of times female workers are allowed to take maternity leave as stipulated in Article 53 of the draft law from a maximum of 5 times to a minimum of 8 times.

From her experience in meeting voters, delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga said that many voters, especially workers, have suggested increasing the number of prenatal check-ups. According to the delegate, this regulation should be based on the requirements for prenatal care and health check-ups as recommended by the Ministry of Health. Currently, according to recommendations, women need to have at least 8 prenatal check-ups during pregnancy at a certain time.

Therefore, delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga suggested consulting with experts on regulations on the number of times female workers are allowed to take prenatal check-ups and ensuring the minimum number of prenatal check-ups as recommended. This is both humane and meets the wishes of the majority of voters.

Delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga also suggested that the Government consider integrating the application of two options for withdrawing social insurance at one time, and not restricting the withdrawal of social insurance at one time for those participating in social insurance.
