Graduation exam questions are similar to "online questions", Ministry of Education and Training says "duplication is normal"

The above information was stated by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training at the press conference to conclude the 2024 high school graduation exam held on the afternoon of June 28.

According to Mr. Ha, for the literature exam, the excerpt and question must be the same as the exam to be considered a leaked exam. If the title of the work is the same, it is just an individual's speculation because the exam is limited to works in textbooks.

"For English topics, the materials need to be from reliable sources such as books and reputable foreign newspapers, so coincidences are normal."Mr. Ha informed.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong added that the work of keeping exam papers confidential was carried out strictly and absolutely. The Deputy Minister also affirmed that as of 6 p.m. on June 28, no violations related to the disclosure or dissemination of exam papers had been discovered.

"If any violations are discovered during the exam marking process, the Ministry of Education and Training will coordinate with relevant agencies to strictly handle them according to the law,"Mr. Thuong said.

Before the exam, a social media account named Maro Kiven leaked the graduation exam questions, causing a stir on social media. This article clearly stated the content that would be included in the exam for three subjects: math, literature, and English.

This account clearly stated that, for the English subject, 7 sentences in the reading comprehension section of the English test were taken from a major American newspaper published on May 28, some sentences "were taken from a school that had issued the final exam for the second semester 4 years ago".

For math, the information clearly states "The first 30 questions are very easy, from question 33 onwards it gets harder... The last 7 questions are very difficult". In particular, the leaked article emphasizes that "Country" will be the work on this year's essay.

On the morning of June 27, the Ministry of Education and Training also issued a notice affirming that all information posted and spread about the leak of the 2024 high school graduation exam "is untrue".

In the 2024 high school graduation exam, the country has 1,071,393 candidates. Of which, the number of candidates registering online is 1,014,020, accounting for 94.66% of the total number of candidates; the number of candidates registering directly is 57,373, accounting for 5.34%. The total number of independent candidates is 46,978, accounting for 4.38%.

Statistics reported by localities and inspection and examination teams show that in the entire 2024 high school graduation exam, nationwide, 30 candidates violated exam regulations and were suspended from the exam due to using documents and bringing phones into the exam room.

Of the 30 candidates who violated the exam regulations, 26 were suspended from the exam (9 candidates used documents and 17 candidates used mobile phones). Compared to 2023, the number of candidates suspended from the exam decreased by 15. In the 2023 high school graduation exam, 41 candidates violated the exam regulations, leading to suspension.
