Party members must set an example.

Currently, site clearance is becoming a "hot" topic in many localities. Many places have chosen site clearance as a breakthrough task for the Party Committee and government in 2023. However, in some places, site clearance is being hindered by... party members - those who are always considered role models for the masses to follow.

The project to renovate and adjust traffic organization at the intersection of Km 15+835 National Highway 17B with Road 20-9, Phu Thai Town (Kim Thanh) has completed nearly 90% of the work. At the location to renovate and expand Road 20-9 (branch 2), site clearance is facing difficulties. The road section is about 50 m long, requiring the recovery of 927.6 m2 of 10 households. Up to now, only 3 households have received compensation and resettlement support (of which 2 households have received money and resettlement land, 1 household has received money but has not received resettlement land). Although the local government and the Compensation and Resettlement Support Council of Kim Thanh district have had many dialogues, propaganda and mobilization, 7 households have not received compensation and resettlement support and have not agreed to the compensation plan according to State regulations. Notably, among these households, there is a household head who is a party member and a relative of a former Chairman of the People's Committee of this district. It is worth mentioning that the policy of renovating and adjusting the organization of traffic intersections in the above area was developed and issued when the former Chairman of the People's Committee of this district was still in office.

Similarly, at the end of 2022, people in a ward of Chi Linh City wanted to build a wastewater drainage system in a residential area. This wastewater drainage system passes through the vacant land of a household with a member who was formerly the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee. When the local government promoted and mobilized to clear the land for the project, the family of the former leader of Chi Linh City did not agree and support the above policy, causing the project to not be implemented yet...

The fact that the above-mentioned party members do not comply with or agree with the land clearance policy, even causing difficulties and obstructing the land clearance work of local authorities, first of all stems from their own selfishness due to unreasonable demands, which are beyond the regime, policies and regulations of the State. This selfishness has caused many works and projects in many localities to be unfinished and behind schedule, causing resentment among the people and damaging the reputation of the party organization and party members.

In fact, in recent years, the land clearance work in many localities has always received the consensus and high support of a large number of party members and people. Many party members have always been exemplary in taking the lead in the land clearance work. Many party members have even taken the lead in voluntarily demolishing works, donating dozens, hundreds of square meters of residential land and cultivated land to carry out local works and projects. Most recently, a 54-year party member in Hong Phong commune (Thanh Mien) voluntarily donated 130 square meters of his family's residential land, located in a prime location in the village, for the locality to build an inter-commune road. They are the ones who create a ripple effect in the movement of donating land for road construction, handing over land for land clearance work, contributing to building the image of exemplary party members, setting a good example, promoting socio-economic development in the locality.

“Setting an example” is identified by our Party as one of the important leadership methods. The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress emphasized the issue of Party building in terms of ethics, in which cadres and party members must “self-consciously set an example”. Party members who voluntarily set an example are setting an example in all actions and deeds and strictly implementing the Party’s guidelines, policies, viewpoints, and the State’s policies and laws. Self-consciously setting an example by cadres and party members is always a moral standard for the masses to follow. If party members do not set an example in implementing guidelines, policies, laws, and cultivating ethics and lifestyle, then the Party’s guidelines, policies, and the State’s laws will be difficult to become reality, and may even be implemented incorrectly, causing people to lack confidence. Therefore, as a Party member who has experienced struggle, training, maturity, and is honored to stand in the ranks of the Party, let us set an example every day so that the two sacred words "Party member" are always mentioned by the people with respect and love.
