The Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office (South Korea) has summoned former President Moon Jae In to investigate allegations of accepting bribes related to arranging a job for his former son-in-law at an airline.

According to prosecutors, the case involves the hiring of Moon Jae In's daughter's ex-husband as an executive at Thailand-based low-cost airline Thai Eastar Jet.

The man, surnamed Seo, was appointed in 2018, shortly after Lee Sang Jik, the airline's founder and former two-term lawmaker, was appointed head of the Korea Small and Medium Business and Startup Agency.

Prosecutors suspect that Lee Sang Jik's appointment was part of a deal in exchange for hiring the president's son-in-law to the airline, despite his alleged lack of experience in the aviation industry.

Investigators are looking into the salary and compensation worth about 223 million won ($151,959) that Thai Eastar Jet paid to the man, saying it was a form of indirect bribery to former President Moon Jae In.
