On the afternoon of December 6, a representative of the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security, said that this agency had just coordinated with relevant parties to receive 780 Vietnamese citizens back to the country, given the complicated situation in Myanmar.
According to the representative of the Immigration Department, in the face of the complicated developments in Myanmar, threatening the safety of Vietnamese citizens in this area, implementing the direction of Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, the Immigration Department has proactively coordinated with the Consular Department and the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar to verify, issue passports, serve citizen protection work and organize flights to bring Vietnamese citizens from Myanmar back to Vietnam.
The Immigration Department has coordinated with relevant units to verify information to support citizens as quickly as possible and issue passports to 1,068 people. On December 2, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security sent leaders and officers to join the interdisciplinary working group chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support citizens returning home from Myanmar. By December 6, the Immigration Department had coordinated with relevant units and agencies to receive 780 people returning home via Noi Bai International Airport, on 6 chartered flights.
The Immigration Department added that this week, it is expected that this unit, together with relevant agencies, will organize a number of chartered flights to bring Vietnamese citizens still stranded in Myanmar back to Vietnam.
