On October 9, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan and Afghanistan said that no Vietnamese citizens were injured or killed in the earthquake disaster in Afghanistan.

Immediately after the devastating earthquake on October 7 in Afghanistan, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan contacted the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad to update information on Vietnamese people. In addition, the Embassy also proactively carried out citizen protection work: posting citizen protection notices on the Embassy's official website, exchanging with contacts in Afghanistan to request support in finding information on the situation of Vietnamese citizens in Afghanistan.

On October 7, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake and several strong aftershocks rocked western Afghanistan, killing over 2,400 people. This is one of the deadliest earthquakes in the world this year, after the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria in February that killed over 50,000 people.
