In the days leading up to Tet At Ty, many workers from other provinces who were unable to return home for Tet received warm feelings from Hai Duong trade unions at all levels.
Celebrate Tet at the boarding house
In the days leading up to Tet At Ty, it seemed like all the boarding houses in Hai Duong were closed and locked, but somewhere there were still flickering lights at night. Due to difficult economic conditions and long distances, many workers from other provinces chose to stay in Hai Duong to celebrate Tet. Fully prepared with flowers, fruits, candies, jams, banh chung... they looked forward to a new year with good health to continue working, producing and contributing to their second hometown - Hai Duong.
After a year of hard work, everyone wants to return home to celebrate Tet. But for Mr. Le Trung Tinh, who is working at Hankook Bobbin Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Cam Giang), it is not easy. Mr. Tinh's hometown is in Tan Tien commune, Dam Doi district (Ca Mau) - about 2,000 km from Hai Duong. To return home to celebrate Tet, the fastest way is by plane, but in return, Mr. Tinh will have to spend more than a month's basic salary to buy a round-trip ticket. If he travels by road to Ca Mau in favorable traffic conditions, Mr. Tinh will also spend more than 2 days sitting in the car. Because it is too expensive, Mr. Tinh chose to stay in his rented room to celebrate Tet and rest to restore his labor.
Mr. Tinh said that seeing people buying things to go back to their hometowns to reunite with their families, he himself felt excited and missed his hometown very much. However, due to difficult economic conditions, he stayed in Hai Duong to save money to send back home to his parents. This year, with the care and support of Hai Duong's trade unions, he has enough essential necessities to celebrate Tet.
In a small house in Trang Ky village, Tan Truong commune (Cam Giang), Ms. Hoang Thi Huong is busy cleaning the house to welcome the Lunar New Year. Receiving a gift bag and words of encouragement from the leaders of the Labor Federation of Cam Giang district, Ms. Huong was very emotional. Ms. Huong is from Ha Long city (Quang Ninh). She has been working in Hai Duong for nearly 10 years. Because her husband died early, she raised 2 children alone, so the family's situation is difficult. Recently, she was seriously ill and had to take 3 months off work, so she did not have the conditions to return home to celebrate Tet.
"After Tet, when economic conditions are less difficult, my family will return to our hometown to visit our parents. Here, we are not lonely because the union takes care of us and protects us," Ms. Huong shared.
All workers have Tet
With the motto "All workers have Tet", the Provincial Labor Federation has distributed many gifts to give to workers from other provinces who stay in Hai Duong to celebrate Tet. The unit directed trade unions at all levels to proactively review and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of these workers to have timely support plans.
According to Ms. Ho Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Labor Federation of Cam Giang District, the area has many workers staying in rented accommodation, the district has 20 workers from other provinces staying in Hai Duong to celebrate Tet At Ty. These are all workers in difficult circumstances, far from home and unable to return home. On January 24, the unit visited, presented gifts and encouraged these 20 workers. Previously, at "Tet Sum Vay", the Labor Federation of the district also gave over 400 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
“Welcoming Tet away from home, we received a lot of attention and help from all levels and sectors. The gifts are not only valuable in terms of material value but also contain the feelings and trust of businesses and trade unions. This will be the motivation for us to continue to strive and contribute in the future," said Ms. Duong Thi Van from Lam Dong, who is working at Venture International Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
On the occasion of Tet At Ty this year, with the spirit of mutual love and support, Hai Duong trade unions at all levels have done many practical things to support and encourage workers. Trade unions at all levels in the province have coordinated to present nearly 200,000 gifts with a total value of nearly 65 billion VND to union members and workers. Trade unions at the grassroots level directly presented gifts to 11,604 workers in difficult circumstances. The programs "Tet Sum Vay", "Zero Dong Booth", "Discount Booth"... have been organized by Hai Duong trade unions to provide the most essential necessities for union members and workers to celebrate Tet with peace of mind.
