Vietnam Trade Union proposed that the competent authority consider adding 2 more days to the National Day holiday (from September 2 to 5) so that workers have the opportunity to take their children to school.
The above is one of nine recommendations gathered from the opinions of workers nationwide through the Trade Union Congresses at all levels, announced by the Vietnam Trade Union at the 13th Congress held on the morning of December 2.
Vietnam has 11 official holidays including New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (1 day), Reunification Day and International Labor Day (2 days), National Day September 2 (2 days).
According to the Vietnam Trade Union, the number of days off in Vietnam is about 5-6 days lower than the average in Southeast Asia and the world.
Therefore, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor recommends that the competent authority consider adding 2 days off for National Day (ie from September 2-5 every year) so that workers have the opportunity to take their children to school.
The 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union took place from December 1-3 with 1,100 delegates attending.
At the congress, delegates will discuss three breakthroughs: Promoting dialogue and collective bargaining, focusing on wages, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, and occupational safety and hygiene; developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in non-state enterprises; and building a team of grassroots union chairmen to meet the tasks, especially in non-state enterprises.
