Many students wonder whether they should go to college because in reality many students graduate and work in fields other than their major or are unemployed.

The consultation session at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (Pleiku City, Gia Lai) this morning, February 12, was "hot" with the question of Quang Ha (Hoang Hoa Tham High School) about the fact that there are currently many university students who graduate and work in a different field but have high incomes, while some are unemployed.
"I plan to go to college, but I see many seniors graduating from college working in a different field or without a job. Is going to college necessary?", this male student's question made the whole schoolyard burst into cheers.

What is college for?
To answer the above question, Dr. Pham Tan Ha, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - asked the opposite question: "Have you ever asked yourself why you go to university and have you found the answer?".
At the same time, Mr. Ha also gave some numbers for students to recognize the answer as a statistic showing that about 80% of the world's poor do not go to college and also 80% of the rich go to college.
Studying at university helps you have a career and a stable future. Besides, you can explore yourself and expand your relationships. The development of society requires people to be able to learn by themselves.
"With the rapid development of science and technology today, can you learn by yourself if you are not equipped with a good knowledge foundation? It is not enough to finish university, but learning is a lifelong task. Studying at university is the initial foundation for you to enter the next stage, helping you have enough strength to follow the long path in the future," said Mr. Ha.

Unemployment among university graduates is normal.
Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung, acting principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, also said that when recruiting, businesses often interview candidates for professional competence. Those with good professional competence and meeting the needs of businesses will have good salaries.
However, Mr. Hung said that unemployment is normal. There are many reasons leading to unemployment.
Currently, university training programs have a subject on entrepreneurship. This subject equips students with entrepreneurial ideas with the knowledge to be able to establish their own companies to create jobs for themselves and others.
"In fact, when recruiting, Japanese companies do not require any major, they only need university graduates. If you ask whether you should go to university or not? In my opinion, you should. If you love a major, choose that major and invest in studying well," Mr. Hung emphasized.

Jobs and salaries depend on one's own abilities.
Master Phung Quan, University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - also confirmed the fact that there are some university students who graduate and work in a different field but have high salaries, while some people have very low salaries or are even unemployed.
Mr. Quan believes that in order to have a well-paid job after graduation, students must first have solid professional skills, which means they need to study really well. Second, students need to have proficient skills in their profession and soft skills (communication, teamwork, etc.); these skills are trained by students participating in Youth Union and Association activities.
Besides, to be successful in your work, you need another factor: attitude. People with a positive attitude will be more successful. For example, the IT industry currently has very high admission scores. If you do not dare to apply, you will not have a chance to be accepted.
"To get a job and receive a high salary, you must have all the elements. You must prove to the employer that your abilities meet the job requirements, then they will hire you and pay you a very high salary. The better your abilities, the higher your salary. Therefore, you must assert yourself and study really hard," Mr. Quan advised.
