The Ministry of Home Affairs agrees with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on swapping working days, creating conditions for workers to have 5 consecutive days off on the occasion of April 30 - May 1.
On April 5, the Ministry of Home Affairs sent a dispatch stating its opinion on the proposal to swap working days on the occasion of the April 30 Victory Day and May 1 International Labor Day holidays.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs agrees with the plan proposed by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, to take an additional day off on April 29 and arrange to make up for it later to extend the holiday. The Ministry of Home Affairs agrees with the content of the draft report to the Prime Minister proposed by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and will soon complete the document, submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision, ensuring the initiative in organizing and arranging the work of the political system, relevant agencies and organizations, and the people.
Previously, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed swapping working days on the occasion of Victory Day, April 30, and International Labor Day, May 1.
In 2024, the April 30 and May 1 holidays will have April 29 (Monday) falling between the two holidays and the two weekend days.
Therefore, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed to swap the normal working day (April 29) to another day to compensate, adding 1 day off in between so that on the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday in 2024, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 5 consecutive days off.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs explained that exchanging working days helps stimulate tourism and social consumption, promoting economic growth; the exchange also does not change the working time fund of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is seeking opinions from 15 ministries and sectors and is expected to complete the document before April 8 to send to the Government. If approved, the holiday schedule for the April 30 - May 1, 2024 holiday will apply to the State agencies.
