Caught village officials buying and selling a "huge" amount of drugs in Lai Chau

On the morning of December 13, Lai Chau Provincial Police announced that they had detained Lu A Minh (born in 1986, in Nam De village, Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

At around 6:00 p.m. on December 12, at km 75+00 of National Highway 4D from Lai Chau to Lao Cai (in Chu Va 12 village, Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district), the police caught Lu A Minh red-handed for "Illegal drug trafficking".

Previously, through the investigation, the police discovered that Lu A Minh had connections with some people from other provinces to buy opium and heroin to bring back to Lai Chau for consumption.

Lu A Minh operates very secretly, appears to be a sociable, upright person and is currently the Head of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nam De village.

After many days of surveillance, at around 5:50 p.m. on December 12, the police discovered that Minh drove his wife to the Chu Va stream area, then left his wife on the side of the road and went into the bushes to carry out a sack of pineapples.

Predicting that he would take the drugs from the secret hiding place to find a buyer, the detectives simultaneously rushed in to control and arrest the subject; confiscated 10 packages of a pungent plastic substance (the subject claimed to have nearly 10kg of opium), 1 heroin cake, 1 motorbike, and 1 phone.

The police determined the weight of the drugs seized from Lu A Minh to be 349.77g of heroin and 9,554.7g of opium.
