According to the plan to solve the case, at around 5:00 a.m. on March 2, the Working Group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Lao Cai Provincial Police discovered a subject with many suspicious signs of drug crimes. The Working Group organized the arrest of the subject along with the evidence seized at the scene including 10 heroin cakes, 24,000 synthetic drug pills and some other related documents.
At the Investigation Police Agency, the subject confessed to being Giang A Mua, born in 2001, residing in Kho Hong village, Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district, Son La province.
Previously, Mua received drugs from a Laotian in the Laos-Vietnam border area in Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district, Son La province. Then, Mua carried a backpack containing the drugs and traveled by motorbike towards Ban Xeo commune, Bat Xat district. After traveling a short distance, Mua stopped by the side of the road to wait for someone to come and collect the drugs. While waiting for someone to come and collect the drugs and hand over 2 billion VND, Mua was discovered and arrested by the authorities. The task force took the subject and all the evidence to the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Province Police for further investigation.
During the pursuit of the suspect, an officer of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Lao Cai Provincial Police, Captain Tran Quang Huy, Deputy Team Leader, was injured after slipping and hitting a sharp rock, resulting in a broken leg.
On the afternoon of March 7, Colonel Tran Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of Lao Cai Provincial Police, also visited Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital to visit and commend Captain Tran Quang Huy's determination and courage in fighting drug crimes.
