Journalism and protecting the Party's ideology in the Digital Transformation period

On the morning of October 6, in Nghe An, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a Press Conference on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in the Digital Transformation Period.

Attending the event were Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi; representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Journalists Association and press agencies.

The conference is of great significance to all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association and press agencies in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, towards the 5-year review of the implementation of Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018 of the Politburo, and is also a useful political-professional activity for the press in general.

At the Conference, the report of the Vietnam Journalists Association showed that implementing the Party's drastic direction, the press has created a vibrant and pervasive atmosphere and motivated the whole society to participate in the country's important political tasks, including protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

Practice shows that the Central press, with its strength in theoretical foundation, actively and deeply informs about political research content, analysis, affirms the correctness, science, and revolution of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; widely propagates the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system...

Meanwhile, local press with different characteristics in terms of geography, population, and regional culture has its own methods and approaches in fighting and preventing hostile and destructive elements, especially on issues of ethnicity, religion, democracy, and human rights.

At the conference, delegates had many opinions and discussions focusing on the practical experience of the press in protecting the Party's ideological foundation; difficulties and challenges for journalists in refuting wrong views and fighting against hostile forces; sharing lessons, solutions and approaches in applying achievements of digital technology in organizing propaganda to protect the Party's ideological foundation.

The presentations showed that press agencies proactively took part in promoting the Party's correct guidelines and policies, the State's progressive policies and laws, and local socio-economic development plans; closely combining "building" and "fighting"; resolutely fighting against bad and toxic content and wrong views on social networks; identifying and refuting the distorted arguments of hostile, reactionary, and opportunistic political forces that take advantage of the issues of "democracy," "human rights," "religion," "ethnicity," "civil society," "freedom of speech," "freedom of the press"... to oppose the Party and the State and sabotage the great national unity bloc.

The conference once again affirmed that the fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints cannot fail to mention the special role of the revolutionary press; the struggle to protect the ideological foundation today still faces many difficulties, the press is not only a shock force on the ideological-cultural front but also a source of collective agitation and collective organizer to protect the Party's ideological foundation.../.
