Ba Ria-Vung Tau closely monitors hand, foot and mouth disease outbreaks

Vung Tau city and Phu My town are two localities with many cases of the disease.

The Health Department of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province said that the number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases in the province has been increasing since June. Worryingly, the circulation of the EV 71 virus strain causes many dangerous complications, which can lead to death.

Faced with the complicated situation of hand, foot and mouth disease, the provincial Center for Disease Control recommends that people proactively take measures to prevent and control the disease such as: washing hands regularly with soap under running water; eating cooked food and drinking boiled water; regularly cleaning living areas and commonly used tools with common detergents; not letting children come into contact with sick or suspected sick people; using hygienic toilets; taking children to medical facilities when there are signs of suspected illness.

Previously, the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province requested the Department of Health to direct its affiliated units to proactively coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities, relevant departments, branches and sectors to closely monitor and supervise the epidemic situation, promptly detect and promptly handle newly emerging outbreaks; take samples for testing to identify pathogens; strengthen mobile anti-epidemic teams to promptly investigate, verify, handle outbreaks and support lower levels when necessary.
