On the morning of September 27, Thai Binh Provincial Police organized a surprise award ceremony for groups with outstanding achievements in fighting the case that occurred at the Vietnam Environment and Urban Electronic Magazine.

Previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police had established, fought, and successfully solved this case, arresting and searching 8 suspects who are leaders and reporters of the Vietnam Environment and Urban Electronic Magazine. The police agency seized many assets and related documents to investigate the act of extortion of property as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 170 of the Penal Code.

The leaders of Thai Binh Province Police assessed this as a very complicated case with sophisticated and organized methods and operations. The suspects are all people who are knowledgeable about the law, operating under the guise of a charity press agency. This case has many victims who are businesses.

This case has a wide scope of activities, involving many provinces and cities across the country, so it has received special attention and follow-up from public opinion.

As reported, on September 23, Thai Binh Provincial Police issued an order to detain 5 people, including leaders, reporters, and employees of the Vietnam Environment and Urban Electronic Magazine to investigate the crime of extortion, including: Dong Xuan Thu (born in 1972, residing in Lang Ha ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi), Editor-in-Chief; Bui Van Toan (born in 1980, residing in Chuong Duong ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi), Head of the Environmental Economics Department; Cao Thi Thu Huong (born in 1989, residing in Ta Thanh Oai commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi), accountant; Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen (born in 1989, residing in Vu Chinh commune, Thai Binh city, Thai Binh province), reporter; Nguyen Tat Trien (born in 1978, residing in Tran Lam ward, Thai Binh city, Thai Binh province), reporter.

On September 26, based on collected documents and evidence, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the case of property extortion that occurred at the Vietnam Environment and Urban Electronic Magazine.

The Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police continued to issue an order to detain people in emergency cases, an order to urgently search the residence and workplace of 1 Deputy Editor-in-Chief and 2 reporters of the Vietnam Environment and Urban Electronic Magazine, including: Nguyen Thi Anh Hong (born in 1977, residing in Linh Nam ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi), Deputy Editor-in-Chief; Dang Van Phuc (born in 1986, residing in Binh Minh commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi), reporter; Vu Duc Lan (born in 1981, residing in Xuan Phuong ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi), reporter.

These people were urgently detained to investigate their behavior showing signs of criminal property extortion. The above orders were approved by the People's Procuracy of Thai Binh province.

Thai Binh Provincial Police are directing the Investigation Police Agency to urgently collect evidence, consolidate records, prosecute, expand investigation, strictly and thoroughly handle the case, and recover assets.
