Vietnam is a country in Apple's special business strategy.

On the occasion of attending the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week and combining bilateral activities in the United States, on the afternoon of November 15 (local time), in San Francisco, President Vo Van Thuong received Mr. Tim Cook - CEO of Apple Corporation.

Sincerely thanking President Vo Van Thuong for taking the time to meet him, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that Vietnam is a country in Apple's special business strategy. The company currently has a number of products manufactured in Vietnam such as Macbook, Ipad, Apple Watch, attracting thousands of local workers.

CEO Tim Cook assessed that Vietnam's digital economy is developing strongly. Many leading electronics and technology companies in the world and the United States have deployed investment, production and business activities in Vietnam in increasing numbers. Vietnam possesses a team of highly qualified engineers and technology staff.

Recommending some issues in development in Vietnam, Mr. Tim Cook said that Vietnam needs to continue to improve the system of standards for applying 5G technology. Along with that, actively perfect the legal framework to serve the development of the digital economy, especially the factors of ensuring security, safety and privacy of users.

In addition, like many other countries, Vietnam needs to carefully consider factors in the application and development of artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the reception, President Vo Van Thuong welcomed Apple's proposals and business strategies that value Vietnam's market and production capacity. The President said CEO Tim Cook is well known to many Vietnamese people, especially young people.

Appreciating and thanking Apple for expanding its production and business in Vietnam in recent times, President Vo Van Thuong said that Apple's product system has brought many opportunities for young Vietnamese people to access and use high-tech devices in their lives and work.

Emphasizing that Vietnam and the United States have just upgraded their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, President Vo Van Thuong said that this is a great opportunity for Apple to strongly expand its investment activities in Vietnam, especially in the high-tech sector, which is also a field that Vietnam prioritizes and encourages.

The President affirmed that the State and Government of Vietnam are always sincere, open and receptive, listening to and accepting suggestions from businesses and investors to continuously improve mechanisms and policies, and especially improve the investment and business environment.

Vietnam is also continuing to upgrade telecommunications standards; making efforts to perfect the legal framework for the development of the digital economy, digital infrastructure and digital human resource training. President Vo Van Thuong asked Apple to support Vietnam in this matter.

The President hopes that Apple will promote investment in localities, especially in large, dynamically developing provinces and cities in Vietnam. In addition, Apple can also participate in the development and application of 5G technology in Vietnam.
