Urban Cruiser Taisor - Toyota's new small SUV

Japanese automaker Toyota has launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor in India, the first market in the world. This product is a rebranded version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, according to Indian media. The short name is Taisor, belonging to the A-segment high-chassis vehicle.

Taisor competes with the likes of Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300.

The Taisor retains the Fronx's exterior design, except for some additional equipment from Toyota such as LED daytime running lights. Design details such as the grille, front bumper, alloy wheels, taillights and especially the "Toyota" logo. The car has 5 monochrome color options and 3 two-tone options for the exterior.

Toyota redesigned the interior of the Taisor. The cabin has a two-tone color scheme and a dashboard layout similar to the Fronx. The car is equipped with a 9-inch entertainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Analog instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. In addition, the Taisor is also equipped with a 360-degree camera, automatic air conditioning, wireless charging, HUD windshield display, and 6 Arkamys speakers.

Taisor has engine options, including a 1.2 naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a capacity of 88 horsepower, maximum torque of 113 Nm. The 1.0 turbocharged 3-cylinder version has a capacity of 100 horsepower, maximum torque of 148 Nm. The 1.2 engine has an additional CNG option. The car is equipped with manual or automatic transmission.

Standard safety features include electronic balance, hill start assist, rollover mitigation, 6 airbags, ABS/EBD brakes, Isofix child seat hooks.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor will be available in the Indian market from May with 12 versions, priced from 9,300-15,600 USD.
