Despite having consumed alcohol, Lieutenant Colonel Khong Van T. still drove the car, caused an accident and then fled. This act was just fined a total of 63 million VND by the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.
On June 25, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich issued a decision to administratively fine Mr. Khong Van T. (44 years old, residing in village 6, An Phu commune, Pleiku city) a total of 63 million VND for administrative violations in the field of road traffic.
Mr. Khong Van T. is a lieutenant colonel, currently working at the Military Command of Dak Doa district, Gia Lai province.
Mr. Khong Van T. was fined 11 million VND for driving on the wrong side of the road, causing a traffic accident; 17 million VND for causing a traffic accident without preserving the scene; and 35 million VND for driving on the road with a breath alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 mg/liter of breath.
The total fine for all violations of Mr. Khong Van T. is 63 million VND.
In addition, Mr. Khong Van T. also had his B1 driver's license revoked for a period of 24 months.
As reported, at around 6:30 p.m. on June 1, Mr. Khong Van T. was driving car 47A-449.33 on National Highway 19. When he reached Km141+00, through Ha Long 1 village, Kdang commune (Dak Doa district), due to not driving on the correct side of the road, he caused a traffic accident with motorbike 81B2-759.96 driven by Ms. Tran Thi Thanh H. (35 years old, residing in Kdang commune, Dak Doa district), traveling in the opposite direction.
The collision caused Ms. Tran Thi Thanh H. to suffer multiple injuries and had to be taken to the emergency room and treated at Hung Vuong Hospital (Pleiku City, Gia Lai).
After the accident, Mr. Khong Van T. drove away from the scene. However, through professional measures, the traffic police of Gia Lai Province Police arrested the driver and the vehicle that caused the accident.
During the inspection, the authorities determined that Mr. Khong Van T. had an alcohol concentration of 1.351 mg/liter of breath.
