The Ministry of Public Security's VNeTraffic application has a traffic violation lookup feature and is currently at the top of the most downloaded list on the App Store.
On the iOS app store, VNeTraffic is currently leading the chart of most downloaded free apps. On Android, the app has recorded more than 50,000 downloads, although it has not been confirmed by the Google Government.
The application has the full name VNeTraffic - Vietnam Smart Traffic Application, introduced as a copyrighted product of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) and authorized by GTEL to develop, effective from January 1. In the latest updated version, the application has features such as: Traffic violation lookup, Feedback, Traffic map.
To use, after downloading, users need to register by scanning their Citizen ID, entering their phone number to receive an OTP code and create an account. In addition, a method of logging in using a VNeID electronic identification account is also being developed.
On VNeTraffic, users can enter any license plate number and receive information about any violations, look up information about fines, and details of violations such as: type of violation, time, location, image of violation and processing status.
Since January 2, the application has risen to the top, but has also received many complaints about difficulties in registering and logging in. Many people said they did not receive OTP or the confirmation time was too long. In the afternoon, when accessing the application, the message "System is upgrading" appeared and asked users to try again later.
VNeTraffic has been in testing for about a year now, but the number of downloads has increased dramatically in the past two days, in the context of Decree 168 on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road traffic order and safety coming into effect, in which many violations have increased fines many times over.
According to Circular 73 issued by the Ministry of Public Security last November, VNeTraffic is one of the channels for violators and vehicle owners to know and comply with the law on road traffic order and safety, serving competent authorities in inspecting, controlling and handling violations.
In order, in case of detecting a violation but the vehicle cannot be stopped for handling, information of the violating vehicle will be updated on the Traffic Police Department's website and the VNeTraffic application for vehicle owners, related organizations and individuals to look up and contact for resolution.
In addition to VNeTraffic, the National Traffic Fines Lookup application released by another unit also reached the top utility application on the App Store, with features supporting viewing traffic cameras, receiving traffic fine notifications via Zalo and SMS, but requires a fee.
