Many drivers are surprised to learn that they have been fined when they go to register their vehicle, forcing them to spend time going back and forth to complete the procedure. To avoid this situation, drivers should proactively check their fines online.
Unexpectedly received a fine notice when going for vehicle inspection
Mr. Trinh Minh Thang (Hoa Binh) shared that he bought a car in Hoa Binh and then transferred his household registration to Hanoi. Last September, when he went to register his car, he unexpectedly received a notice of a fine for not obeying traffic signals.
"My car's registration is only 1 day away from expiring, so I have to do a temporary registration for 15 days to get my vehicle back. I was quite subjective because I didn't look up the fines before registering, and I didn't receive any notice from the authorities," Thang shared.
According to Mr. Thang, if there is a solution to notify vehicle owners of fines via an application or text message, it will be more convenient and people will not have to go back and forth many times to do vehicle inspection procedures.
In a similar situation, Mr. Nguyen Hong Giang (in Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) was surprised when he received a fine notice at the vehicle inspection center.
"Because I did not receive a notification letter from the authorities, I did not know I was being fined. If I had received the notification earlier, I would have handled it so as not to affect the vehicle inspection period," said Mr. Giang.
How to check traffic fines online quickly and accurately
To avoid being denied vehicle inspection due to unpaid fines, drivers need to proactively look up information in the following ways:
Search via the Electronic Information Portal of the Traffic Police Departmentby accessing the addresshttps://www.csgt.vnThen fill in the vehicle license plate in the "Look up traffic violations by image" section.
At this time, the driver will be provided with full details related to the violation including: license plate number, time and location of the violation along with information about the agency that recorded the violation.
In addition, vehicle owners or drivers can contact the police directly through the address or phone number provided to handle issues related to violations.
Drivers can also look up fine notices through the Vietnam Register's Electronic Information Portal. (http://www.vr.org.vn/). Drivers will be able to look up fine notices through the "Motor vehicles for vehicle owners" data lookup section.
After filling in all the information, if a black box containing information about handling violations appears, it means that the vehicle owner or driver has not completed the obligation to pay the fine and will be denied registration.
In addition, the Ministry of Public Security is also testing the VNeTraffic application, where drivers and vehicle owners can look up information on traffic fines.
