Hoang Van Viet and Ho Van Hung stole two Bodhi trees from a family in Gia Loc district (Hai Duong), worth 8.3 million VND.
On the afternoon of March 14, the People's Court of Gia Loc district (Hai Duong) opened the first instance trial of the criminal case against Hoang Van Viet, born in 1992, residing in Phu Trieu village, Lien Hong commune (Hai Duong city) for the crime of property theft.
At about 1:00 a.m. on March 4, 2023, at the house of Mr. Doan Van Hien (born in 1947, in Bai Thuong village, Toan Thang commune, Gia Loc district), taking advantage of the dark night and Mr. Hien's family sleeping, Viet and Ho Van Hung (born in 1987, living in the same Bai Thuong village) stole 2 La Han pine trees, worth 8.3 million VND from Mr. Hien's family.
The jury sentenced Viet to 10 months in prison.
Previously, Hung received a 10-month prison sentence in criminal judgment No. 42/2023/HS-ST dated July 13, 2023 of Gia Loc District People's Court.
