On July 9, Nam Dinh Provincial Police said that the Criminal Police Department coordinated with the Department of Technical Affairs, Ministry of Public Security to destroy a 150 billion VND football betting ring.
The ringleaders are Tran Van Vinh (born in 1995) and Do Trung Quan (born in 1996, both residing in Giao Thuy district).
At the beginning of the Euro season, Vinh and Quan pooled hundreds of millions of dong to buy an Agent-level football betting account and then divided it into many individual gambling accounts (member level) for groups of people participating in betting on football matches.
In addition to organizing gamblers to participate in betting, Tran Van Vinh also directly bet on football. To conceal their crimes and deal with the police, these two people only lured and provided betting accounts to acquaintances with good financial conditions. From June 14 until their arrest, this line bet on football with a transaction amount of 150 billion VND.
During the investigation of the football betting ring in Nam Dinh, the investigation agency also discovered and dismantled three more gambling rings and online gambling rings in Hanoi and Tuyen Quang.
Police detained Nguyen Van Ngoc (born in 1990, residing in Tuyen Quang) and Tran Van Doan (born in 1991), Do Van Tuan (born in 1991) and Pham Quang Khoi (born in 1993, all residing in Hanoi).
The Criminal Police Department of Nam Dinh Province Police is coordinating to expand the investigation into these 4 football betting lines, clarifying the roles of those involved.
In addition, during the search of Pham Van Linh’s rented room in Giao Thuy district, the police also discovered and seized synthetic drugs in the form of ketamine. Through rapid testing of people present in the rented room, the police discovered that 3 people tested positive for drugs.
The Criminal Police Department, Nam Dinh Provincial Police are consolidating records to handle this group of people for the act of organizing and illegally using drugs.
