Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has handed over the decision to transfer and appoint Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam to hold the position of General Director of Vietnam Television (VTV).
Previously, on November 1, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1311/QD-TTg to transfer and appoint Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam to hold the position of VTV General Director to replace Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, who was transferred by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee on October 31.
New VTV General Director Nguyen Thanh Lam was born in 1972, graduated from the Faculty of French, University of Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University; started his career at VTV in 1993; worked as the leader of VTV News Department, then transferred to work as Deputy General Director of An Vien Television, General Director of VTC Digital Television Station. After that, he held the position of Deputy Director of the Press Department, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, Director of the Press Department and held the position of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications in September 2022.
Presenting the decision to transfer and appoint Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam to the position of General Director of VTV, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam grew up at VTV, having held many positions and working positions related to information and communications.
Affirming that comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam's transfer and appointment received high consensus from the Party Central Committee Secretariat, VTV's internal affairs, and was suitable for the current context, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated VTV in training and fostering cadres; providing cadres for ministries, branches, and localities with good moral and political qualities, high expertise, vision, innovation, and aspirations to rise up.
Appreciating the growth and maturity of VTV in the context of increasingly fierce competition in information and communication as today and the contributions of generations of leaders, cadres, employees and workers of VTV through the periods, including VTV General Director Le Ngoc Quang who has just been transferred and appointed as Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee, the Prime Minister said that the country is entering a new era - the era of national growth, requiring each cadre, reporter, editor, technician and worker of VTV to make more efforts to meet the requirements of the new period.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested VTV General Director Nguyen Thanh Lam, together with the Party Committee, key leaders, and all officials, reporters, editors, technicians, employees, and workers in VTV to unite, promote the collective strength and that of each unit and each individual who is passionate about their profession and overcomes their own limits; closely coordinate between units in the agency and between ministries, branches, and related agencies to achieve new achievements.
“People are the center, the driving force, the goal, and the driving force of development. Therefore, we must build a team of passionate cadres who know how to sacrifice for their profession and innovate,” the Prime Minister pointed out.
The Prime Minister requested that VTV's infrastructure and technology, especially digital transformation, be built in time to serve the nation's rise. In particular, research and construction of a television tower worthy of the nation's heroic historical tradition, the role and position of the country, and the intelligence of Vietnamese television workers; both a symbol of the country and a source of pride for VTV.
Along with that, VTV must closely follow the Party's direction, innovate and improve the quality of television program content, meet the requirements of development, truly enter life, meet the public's need for current information, special topics and cultural enjoyment; contribute to creating motivation and inspiration for people to follow the Party, obey the law; combine national and contemporary strength, internal and external strength, fight against bad and toxic information so that the whole nation can be confident, self-reliant and self-reliant to move forward.
